Appaloosa

Many types of horses are distinguished by the colors and patterns of their coat and tail. The Nez Percé of northeast Oregon bred the Appaloosa, the American version of the long-standing spotted horse.  Developed for war and hunting, the Appaloosa is a strong, agile, intelligent horse with tough hooves and a short, no-nonsense mane and tail.  Today it is bred for stock, pleasure, and performing.
